About

araminta casson

There is a chronic state of bordering, outlying and adaption that follows myself and people reflected in my work.  I am a multidisciplinary artist, practicing predominantly with oil paint and an expressive mixture of oil pastels, chalks and charcoal. My work is heavily inspired by the aesthetics of collage, in particular, wheat-pasted posters peeling back, wilting advertisements and deteriorating aerosol art. Tethering this visual language with expressive automatism and figurative painting.

I'm deeply fascinated with the temporality of, image and identity in this new contemporary world. Liminality and uncertainty have been massive factors in my own life and the lives of those subject in my work.
